MINUTES FOR MONDAY 25 JUNE IN THE CLUBHOUSE.

MINUTES FOR MONDAY 18 JUNE IN THE CLUBHOUSE.

PRESENT: K.S, P.F, C.M, J.G, M.C, A.B-W, D.G-M, T.H, F.B, G.A, C.C, A.W(left early).

Bumpers and Crocs played their Calcutta Cup match, which Bumpers won by 2&1. Bumpers and the Chair apologised for their absences next week. Bumpers was removed from his seat in the centre to a more suitable one, lower in the pecking order, to enable the Chair to take centre stage and establish himself next to the beloved President.

RESULTS: Only one 2 was posted on the 14th by Kwok, who scooped a triple rollover worth almost 7 squid. DoD was the aforementioned Kwok with a derisory 22 points. DDoD was 2Beers with a slightly better 23 points. Runner up with a magnificent 37 points was the Scuttler. The winner on 38 points was the indefatigable and tenacious Shotgun, who is champine of the week.

FINANCES: The Chair recompensed Bumpers with £3 of outstanding prizewinnings from last week. He also divulged himself of all outstanding 2’s money. He is now in receipt of swear money, totalling £3.20.

TOASTS: To the President who made his first trip around the course with fellow MOHGS, without the aid of a buggy.

To Tommy Fleetwood who was second in the US Open.

To the Scottish cricket team in recognition of their defeat of England last week.

LAST WEEKS MINUTES ACCEPTED IN THEIR ENTIRETY.

SOAPY’S DAY: To be celebrated next Monday. A singles Stableford Comp. A maximum of    7 clubs allowed in the bag. Extra shots will be awarded to individuals who carry less than 7 clubs, one shot for each club not carried. The President will generously place £84 behind the bar, £1 for each year of his life on earth. It is hoped that Kwok will organise a sports quiz as part of the après golf festivities.

* The Scuttler wished it to be placed on record that he has received a certain amount of hassle from other club members over the number of names which he enters for the Seniors Comp each week . At the moment he is entering up to 12 names which is seen in some quarters as a tad excessive. It may be required to draw up contingency plans if the hassle continues.

HUNLEY HALL: Brains reported that all arrangements are progressing nicely.

PONTELAND: The first of three tees is booked for 11am on Wednesday. The Laird suggested that all interested parties arrive no later that 10.30. The attendees are: F.B, D.F, P.F, J.G, D.G-M, B.H, T.H, P.L, M.M, C.M, B.Y, C.C.

The Laird magnanimously wished the England team every success in their first World Cup group match versus Tunisia this evening.

There being no other business, the meeting closed in good spirits at 1.35pm.

MINUTES FOR MONDAY 11 JUNE IN THE CLUBHOUSE.

Limited turnout of members on account that D.F, P.L, B.Y and T.H were absent at the Seniors Open at Chester-le-Street.

PRESENT: F.B, P.F, T.M, D.G-M, C.M, C.D, M.C, M.S, G.A, M.M.

M.C apologised for leaving before the meeting started.

RESULTS: Delivered by the silver tongued Dewey, whom many members remarked was an obvious candidate for high office in the near future. No 2’s were posted, therefore the  cash rolls over into a double rollover next week. DoD was the unfortunate Kwok with a miserable 22 points. DDoD was the Straggler with a pathetic 24 points, who reminded the group that in the good old days he actually played off +1 but was now sadly in reduced circumstances with the also rans. Runner up was Bumpers with a steady score of 33 points. This week’s winner and champine with a remarkable 36 points was the ever popular 2Beers.

The Chair thanked Dewey for his efficient, factual and interesting delivery.
FINANCE: The Chair is holding Bumpers winnings of £3  plus the £2.40 in swears and £2 in unclaimed 2’s money.

TOASTS: Winscales reported that he had recently encountered his neighbour, the Falcon, over his garden fence. The Falcon was reportedly and unsuccessfully attempting to instruct his wife on  how to plough a straight furrow. He revealed to Winscales that he had recently undergone surgery. The MOHGS raised a glass to wish for a speedy recovery.

LAST WEEKS MINUTES ACCEPTED.

BUSINESS: Shagpile reminded the members that there are still places available for the Jane Percy House charity game at Arcot Hall next Monday. The first tee time is 10.26. Interested parties should contact Shagpile ASAP.

* There was much confusion and not a little consternation about the date and timings of Soapy’s Day. Brains, who is the keeper of the diary, was not available for clarification but it is hoped that he will notify members after reading these minutes.

The Chair played a game with Soapy last week and they discussed the format for the competition. Soapy would like the game to be played with a maximum of 7 clubs in the bag. However members will be allowed to play with less than seven clubs and gain one point to their final score for each club they decide not to carry.

* D.F is unavailable this Wednesday for the Seniors Competition therefore there is a space available at 9.26.

There being no further business, the meeting closed amicably at 1pm.
