MINUTES FOR MONDAY 11 JUNE IN THE CLUBHOUSE.

Limited turnout of members on account that D.F, P.L, B.Y and T.H were absent at the Seniors Open at Chester-le-Street.

PRESENT: F.B, P.F, T.M, D.G-M, C.M, C.D, M.C, M.S, G.A, M.M.

M.C apologised for leaving before the meeting started.

RESULTS: Delivered by the silver tongued Dewey, whom many members remarked was an obvious candidate for high office in the near future. No 2’s were posted, therefore the  cash rolls over into a double rollover next week. DoD was the unfortunate Kwok with a miserable 22 points. DDoD was the Straggler with a pathetic 24 points, who reminded the group that in the good old days he actually played off +1 but was now sadly in reduced circumstances with the also rans. Runner up was Bumpers with a steady score of 33 points. This week’s winner and champine with a remarkable 36 points was the ever popular 2Beers.

The Chair thanked Dewey for his efficient, factual and interesting delivery.
FINANCE: The Chair is holding Bumpers winnings of £3  plus the £2.40 in swears and £2 in unclaimed 2’s money.

TOASTS: Winscales reported that he had recently encountered his neighbour, the Falcon, over his garden fence. The Falcon was reportedly and unsuccessfully attempting to instruct his wife on  how to plough a straight furrow. He revealed to Winscales that he had recently undergone surgery. The MOHGS raised a glass to wish for a speedy recovery.

LAST WEEKS MINUTES ACCEPTED.

BUSINESS: Shagpile reminded the members that there are still places available for the Jane Percy House charity game at Arcot Hall next Monday. The first tee time is 10.26. Interested parties should contact Shagpile ASAP.

* There was much confusion and not a little consternation about the date and timings of Soapy’s Day. Brains, who is the keeper of the diary, was not available for clarification but it is hoped that he will notify members after reading these minutes.

The Chair played a game with Soapy last week and they discussed the format for the competition. Soapy would like the game to be played with a maximum of 7 clubs in the bag. However members will be allowed to play with less than seven clubs and gain one point to their final score for each club they decide not to carry.

* D.F is unavailable this Wednesday for the Seniors Competition therefore there is a space available at 9.26.

There being no further business, the meeting closed amicably at 1pm.

Burt E. Kwok.
