Minutes of MOHGS Meeting 27 February 2023

Apologies from all those not here, and all those returning from a trip to Wembley.

Present:- PB, DF, JG(2), TM, MS, PL, JG(1), CC, MC, BR

Apologies from The Rabbi and Ming for early departures.

Herbie assumed the Chair.

Ten players today, so singles competition.

Competition Results;

One two recorded at the 4th by The Rabbi who takes the whole £2 stake!

Duffer of the Day was Ming with 24 points  

DDoTD were The Laird, Bumpers, Monty, and Brains with 29 points.

Runner up and receiving £3 was The Emperor with 40 points.

The overall winner was The Cardinal (first win of the winter) with a stonking 45 points, grabbing £7.

Obviously, handicaps will be adjusted in the time honoured fashion, despite The Laird requesting a handicap review.

Swears £2.40, Geezer Cards £2.80

Matters Arising

The Laird announced that there were only four MOHGS at present playing at Morpeth on 20 March. Will any others wishing to play that Monday PLEASE let him know by next Monday at the latest. Bumpers said he would play so at present The Laird will book only 2 tees for Monday 20th March.

Bumpers said that he had met The Falcon last week for coffee and he (The Falcon) wished the MOHGS well. He will try to make an apres golf meeting in the near future.

Herbie’s observations from the course surrounded the 11th hole. One of his playing partners was in the trees three times on the one hole, needless to say The Geezer was not happy and used up his swear allocation on that single hole!

The other playing partner contrived to hit his golf mat further that the ball!!

Minutes of MOHGS Meeting 20 February 2023

Apologies from all those not here.

Present:- PB, DF, FB (meeting only), JG(2), MD, PF, CM, TM, LW (golf only), MS, PL, JG(1) GW, CC,

Even though the Chairman was present, Herbie assumed the Chair.

Thirteen golfers this morning in somewhat challenging conditions, mainly a gale force westerly! Since there were 13, singles competition was announced with overall winner and runner up, together with winners of the front 9 and back 6!  

Competition Results;

Two’s recorded at the 4th by Davo, and at the 17th by Herbie and Johnnie, each to receive 80p with 20p to the coffers.

Duffer of the Day was Brains with 19 points  

DDoTD was The Laird and El Matador with 23 points.

Runner up and receiving £2 each was Herbie with 32 points.

The overall winner was Johnnie with a creditable 34 points, grabbing £5.

Winner of the front nine was the Geezer with 19 points, he gets £3.

Winners of the back 6 and getting £1 each were Davo, Kwock, and Monty.

Obviously, handicaps will be adjusted when Brains has worked it out!!

Swears £4.90, Geezer Cards £3.15, inclusive of the 20p from the twos pot.

Matters Arising

It has previously been agreed that when Green Cards are available we would use them for MOHGS winter competitions, unless Green Cards are unavailable. Green Cards are extremely difficult to obtain requiring extended residence in the USA.

Any MOHGS wishing to play on Monday 20th March please let The Laird know asap so that he can adjust the tee bookings and keep us well in with The Management.

Winners: With an incredible 92pts 2Beers, Geezer, Silver Foix and Bumpers

Twos: Jonnie,Ming,Monty

Finance: Geezer cards £4.30 Abuse £5.95 (half a swear I guess)

Minutes: of the last meeting approved.

2 Beers confirmed details of the 8 going to Craiilaw on Sun/Mon 19/20 March

Those not playing to advise Laird of availability for 20th to enable us to book the correct number of tees.

All Mondays have now been booked until October. Well done, Laird

8th May we have tee times starting 8.20 so balls in the hat 8.05

5th June course in use. Herbie to arrange an away day.

Gezer suggested if we invite further members to be mindful that we only have 4 tee time.

Crocs showed off the trophy donated by Herbie for MOHG of the year. This to be awarded on the first Monday in April to the MOHG with the most wins in the season before.

On the subject of trophies we are still missing the AGM Bell, Soapies Dish and the Hunley Hall trophy. Can all members search their trophy cabinets for them please

Minutes of MOHGS Meeting 6 February 2023

Present:- PB, DF, DGM, JG(3), MD, PF, CM, TM, BR, LW, MS, PL, JG(1) GW, CC, (golf only)

Two Beers addressed the meeting as Chair. He welcomed back The Laird from his missionary work in the Antipodes. He also thanked JG(1) for standing in as deputy Competition Secretary so well. This was acknowledged by the assembled crowd!

Fifteen competed for the coveted Christmas Plate, a singles competition using only 3 clubs of choice plus a putter off full MOHGS handicap!  

Competition Results;

Before announcing the results The Competition Secretary personally thanked JG(1) for standing in manfully as the Competition Secretary for so many weeks.

Duffer of the Day was Ming with 26 points  

DDoTD was Two Beers with 28 points.

In third place and receiving £2 was The Rabbi with 41 points

Runner up and receiving £3 each was Johnnie with 42 points.

However the winner and recipient of the Christmas Shield was Davo with 43 points. Also £10 winnings as if the trophy was not enough.

Obviously, handicaps will be adjusted accordingly.

Twos today by The Emperor at the 8th, JG(3) I think at the 17th, and Johnnie and the Rabbi at the 4th. They will share £5.60 inclusive of last weeks £2.60 carry forward.

Swears raised £3.80, Geezer Cards £4.80.
