AOB : Emperor advised that the Laird had sorted the Hobson’s match for Monday 3 July, as The Laird is having a break in Tenerife, could all MOHGS advise The Emperor of their availability and at today’s meeting we have confirmed as Crocs, Monty, Matador & Emperor.

Also, the Emperor advised he requires names by Wed 24th for next Monday 29th May, so tee times can be adjusted to suit. The Emperor also spoke with Julia regarding the MOHGS reserved tee times that have become “active” of late and she came back and advised that herself and Margaret have found the problem and all should be OK from now (I/we will find out tonight as Newcastle FC kick off at St James), as at today’s meeting we have confirmed for 29th May as Crocs, Monty, 2 Beers & Emperor

Laird advsed the game v Hobson was now cancelled on 19th June but alternative dates were suggested on Monday 3rd or 10th July. Please advise Laird by this Wed 17th May of your preference.

Laird made an impassioned speech relating to the tardiness of confirmations.

Please help him by being prompt or else. He then outlined the problem with the tee times this week and was thanked by all the attending Mohgs for his unstinting work in getting us to play together this week.

Next Monday 22nd May it was proposed we may only need two or three tee time as a few members are away and others playing for the seniors. Emperor agreed to cancel as required any unnecessary tee time. At the moment we have 5 players. Please advise Emperor by Wednesday 17th if you wish to play.

Laird sends his apologies for the next two weeks as he has won enough. The Geezer volunteered to stand in as competition secretary so don’t mess with him either.

Herbie advised he is on the case for a venue for Monday 5th June. Watch this space.

Apologies from all those not here.

Present:- PB, CM, MD, JG(2), PL, DF, BR, JG(1), TH, FB (meeting only)

The Chairman assumed the Chair.

Nine players today on a wet Bank Holiday Monday, the Competition Secretary devised a three man team format with the best score only to count. In view of the weather, he suggested a curtailed round of 11 holes, 1-7, 12, 16-18.

The Chairman formally announced the death of MOHGS member Bob Hallett (aka Jockstrap). A minute silence was observed before the Chairman reminisced about Bobby with much fondness. Biggles passed on his condolences through the Rabbi. Glasses were raised to remember Bob, RIP.

The funeral will take place at West Road Crematorium on 24th May at 11am, and afterwards at Beamish Park Golf Club. It was suggested that a MOHG should perhaps say a few words at the funeral about Bob. Crocs would be willing to do so if fellow MOGHS would contribute to the memories.

The Chairman will ask Simon (Bob’s son) about the dress code to establish the appropriateness of MOHGS attire.
