Minutes of MOHGS Meeting 25 September 2023

Apologies from all those not here.

Present: – PB, CM, CC, MS, JG (1), DGM, MD, DF, JG (2), AW, JG (3), PF, TM, MF, PL (golf only), BR (meeting only), MM (meeting only)  

Fifteen players this morning, the Competition Secretary surprised the bunch with a seeded Texas Scramble! The five top seeds were selected on their ability to hit the ball a long way, the rest just selected out of the bag! No minimum drives for the three man teams. Handicap to be 10% of combined and bunkers were deemed GUR.

Two Beers adopted the Chair.

Competition Results.

One two today for Monty’s Team at the 8th, and one at the 4th for Herbie’s Team, as a consequence of a minimal payment £3.00 went into the Emperor’s tin.

The Competition Secretary announce that 4.3 strokes covered all the teams.

However,

Duffers of the Day was Davo’s Team (Davo, Brains and Ming) with 72.7 shots.

Deputy Duffers of the Day was the Silver Fox’s Team (Silver Fox, Geezer and Ming) with 71.8 shots.

Middle for Diddle was Winker’s Team (Winker, Kwok, The Cardinal) with 71.2 shots.

Runners up was Herbie’s Team with 69.8 shots, Herbie, The Laird and Crocs each receive £1.

Winners was Monty’s Team with 68.4 shots, Monty, Sparky and The Rabbi get £4 each.

Handicaps will be adjusted in the time-honoured manner.

It was agreed that the Competition Secretary had exceed all expectations with his innovative competition.

Swears raised £4.90 and the Levy raised £7.50. Geezer cards were not in operation.

The Chairman welcomed Shagpile back into the fold, it was great to see him and listen to his new stories!

The Solhiem Cup Team for retaining the cup in Spain.

Ming for winning the Senior’s Competition last Wednesday.

NUFC for building a snowman at Bramall Lane on Sunday!

Last week’s minutes were accepted.

No Matters Arising

AOB

Two Beers advised that those going to Ramside should be aware that soft spikes were the order of the day.

Next Monday there will be only 4 players at Morpeth, can one of the four book a Tee time, JG(2) gamely offered to do so.

Christmas Party Day will be 11th December.

Herbie reiterated that only soft spikes were allowed at Ramside, the tumbleweed was palpable.

The meeting closed at 12.50.
