Q Hotels had sent a message to the Cardinal re night away, he will investigate.

An e-mail thanks had been received from Shagpile.

Crocs queried the interpretation on the ‘In the Trees’   Geezer Card. There are now a number of tree stumps on the course and questions were raised regarding the validity of a ball in the proximity of said stumps.

Various definitions were bandied about, however Herbie helpfully reiterated the mantra ‘If you have to ask, pay up’.

The Cardinal will be absent for the next 2 weeks, The Laird will be absent next Monday. Stand in arrangement will have to be made.

The meeting closed at 1.02pm.

The Laird and Crocs had visited Shagpile, he is in good spirits hopefully assisted by the ‘medicine’ delivered from the MOHGS. We all wish him a speedy recovery.

Shagpile did provide dates for the RNLI Golf Day at Newbiggin and the Rotary Charity Day also at Newbiggin. One is on the last Friday in May and the other is on the last Friday in June, who knows which is first!

Dates and competitions to be confirmed later.

Herbie had indeed circulated his spreadsheet.

The meeting closed at 11.30am.

Ming questioned the validity of using the 3 put geezer card on temporary greens. The Competition Secretary suggested that as there was no discernible limit to the temporary greens, it was impossible to apply the 3 put rule on the temporary greens. Clearly on the proper green the rule still applies. This interpretation seemed to find general favour with the assembly.

Herbie had been keeping close check on the MOHGS performances over the full season, both winter and summer competitions. He had awarded points for various finishes and at the end of the exercise he decreed that The Laird had amassed the most points and was therefore the Champion Golfer over the full year. The Laird was presented with the magnificent trophy.

Herbie also appraised the two’s champion; however, a number of members had made 4 two’s and therefore there was no overall King of Cash this year.

He did intimate that his spreadsheet would be circulated.

The Rabbi gave an update on Biggles. He is about to go to Preston to get intensive therapy for swallowing. He has been there before, and it has proved extremely helpful. After that he is to get a week intensive speech therapy with specialists in Gateshead. We all wish him well.

The meeting closed at 11.35am.
