Minutes of MOHGS Meeting 26 August 2024

Apologies from all those not here.

Present: – TM, GW, AW, PB, DF, LW, PL, CC, JG (1), TH, MD, MF, MC, BR.

Fourteen players this bank holiday morning. The Comp. Sec. decided on an innovative Pairs Competition with each pair not playing with his partner, although each knew who the partner was! Full handicap allowance and both players score to be added together for the result.

The Matador stepped into the role of Stand-in Chairman, mainly because he sat at the head of the table!

Competition Results.

One two today at the 14th by Davo, he pockets £2.80.

There was a hiatus in announcing the results this morning, the Competition Secretary could not read his own writing. The corrected results are as follows:

Duffers of the Day were Ming and Bumpers with 58 points, they will receive a two-shot uplift.

Deputy Duffers of the Day were Winker and The Laird with 60 points. They get a 1 shot uplift.

Runners up were Brains and Davo with 70 points. They get nothing £2 each. They have a 1 shot reduction.

Today’s winners were Rabbi and The Emperor with 73 points. They get £5 each. They have a 2 shot reduction.

Levy raised £7.00.

Bank holiday so no swears and no Geezer Cards, however a 20p addition levy was demanded by the Emperor. That raised £2.90! (don’t ask!)

Lottie Woad, English Golfer, for winning the Silver Medal at yesterday’s Ladies Open.

Morpeth Juniors for becoming league champions yesterday at Longhirst. First time in over 25 years.

Last meeting’s minutes were accepted.

Matters Arising

None.

AOB

Apologies for the next week from The Laird and The Cardinal (maybe more). Also, from the Rabbi for 9 September.

Johnnie thanked all those who enquire after his health last week. He left the course early feeling ill.

The Cardinal pointed out that on Monday 9th September and Monday 23rd September there were two home Seniors friendly matches against Matfen and Longhirst respectively. The Seniors Captain was having difficulty in raising a team for both. Those MOHGS who are available should consider playing for the Seniors Team.

The Wooler Nine required at 9am on Friday.

The meeting closed at 12.50.
