Report of the Competition Secretary

The esteemed comp. sec. provided a full report on the last years playing activities.

Yet another year completed. It has been a relatively quiet year for the MOHGS. We had 2 away trips since my last report, Slaley Hall in spring and Kinross in the autumn. 12 players at Slaley and Kinross. It was good to see Dewy at Kinross. Our 2 traditional Charity days at Newbiggin, Rotary and RNLI were attended in the summer, however the number of MOHGS in attendance at these 2 events
Unfortunately our regular friendly matchplay games did not happen last year for differing reasons. Beamish due to the Dirty Dozen no longer having a dozen players or anywhere near that number and Hobson due to us struggling to get sufficient players interested. I don’t think that these matches are likely to continue.
We currently have 20 members playing regularly…
One of our members “The Geezer “is MGC Captain for this year. It’s an honour to have a MOHG In such an esteemed position and we wish him well and will offer our support when we can.
Since our last AGM our Competition winners are as follows: –

MOGH of year 2023-24.         The Laird
Soapy Dish 10/6/24.                     Herbie
Bob Hallett Trophy 1/7/24.          The Laird
Club Champion 5/8/24.                Bumpers/ El Matador

MOGH of the year 2024-25.        TBA on Monday 7th April on Bob Hallett Memorial Day

It has been an honour, even though it has not been without its difficulties at times, to be your Competition Secretary for the past years. I hope that I have done a good job and that you are happy for me to continue. May I thank you for your assistance, Brains, and your support and cooperation this past year.
I wish you all a happy, healthy and successful season this year.

The Geezer thanked MOHGS for their support to date.

The report was received with acclamation and grateful thanks from all present.

Crocs undertook to update the trophies as appropriate.

Report of the Financial Secretary

Written report provided by the Emperor, attached!

The Emperor observed that we were not a money-making entity and was pleased to announce that income was £552.20, whilst expenditure was £551.85. A surplus of 35p.

Cash in hand is currently £72.50.

He observed that we have an average of 13 players each Monday and we lost 9 playing days through inclement weather.

The Emperor pointed out that Rachel from Accounts has proposed an increase NI and in the minimum wage and in response to this he believed we needed to increase the levy from 50p to £1. He did remind everyone that he had proposed it last year!!

The Laird suggested a levy of £5 for all MOHGS and a weekly levy of 50p.

The Geezer felt that the 50p levy should remain and we cancel Christmas!

However, when put to the vote, the £1 levy was approved.

Thanks were given to the Treasurer for his heroic efforts in providing fiscal prudence.

Report of the Chairman

Thanked all officers and MOHGS for their support. Since no brown envelopes had been received by the Secretary, all officers will remain in post for another year.

Appointment of Officers

As stated above, the existing officers are in post for at least another year!

AOB

Davo proposed an amendment to the handicap adjustments.

He suggested that winners should be docked 20%, second place 15% and third place 10%.

Similarly, the duffer of the day gets 20% uplift, next worst 15% and third worst 10%.

After much discussion the proposal was agreed. Davo would do the calculations, and the new handicaps would be recorded in the minutes.

The new system will start at the commencement of the new season.

Brains flourished the draft diary for next year which was vocally approved.

The meeting closed at 12.45.
