Minutes of MOHGS Meeting 17 March 2025

Present: – PL, MD, PB, DF, JG (1), JG (3), TM, BR, LW, MC, PF, MC. MS meeting only.

Twelve golfers this morning, probably yesterday’s football game resulted in lie ins and late travel for several stalwarts!

A good job Herbie turned up for the meeting as he was nominated as chairman. He took up the challenge with his usual aplomb!

Results

The Competition Secretary decided on a team game, teams of three with two to count on the par 4’s and all three to count on the par 3’s and 5’s.

Four twos today, The Laird and Johnnie at the 8th, and The Laird (again) and Ming the 17th.

They share £3.00 and were invited to contribute it to the Treasurer’s tin, they all refused!

Th Competition Secretary dealt a withering rebuke to those who had played off the wrong handicap. He decreed that any such transgressions in the future would result in disqualification of the miscreant and his team should it be a team event.

The Cardinal was shamefaced to acknowledge that he was the guilty party and would ensure that no such thing would occur again on his watch!!!

Duffers of The Day were The Geezer, Johnnie and Kwok

Deputy Duffers of The Day were Rabbi, Davo and Silver Fox.

Runners up were The Emperor, The Laird and Bumpers with 94 points.

The winners were Ming, Brains and The Cardinal with originally 97 points but adjusted to 95 points when the correct handicap was used! They get £4 each and a shot reduction.

Handicaps will be adjusted in the accepted method.

The Levy raised £6.

Geezer Cards raised £3.

Swears £2.20 (Captain Geezer’s resolution not to swear is having a severe impact on the financial position)

Toasts

The first toast could only be NUFC aka The Toon, for winning the Carabao Cup yesterday, just 70 years since the last domestic trophy.
