Fourteen golfers this morning. The Competition Secretary devised a cunning mystery pairs competition, where each player was allocated a partner after the golf!!!!

Results

Two twos today for Ming and Silver Fox both at the 14^th.

They share £2.80.

Duffers of The Day was Emperor and Two Beers scoring 25 points each for a grand total of 50 points, They will both receive a shot uplift.

Deputy Duffers of The Day were Brains with 25 points and Scuttler with 29 points, for a grand total of 54 points.

Deputy Deputy Duffers of The Day were Winker with 32 and Kwock with 24 for a grand total of 56 points.

In 4^th place were the Cardinal with 30 and Geezer with 28 for a total of 58 points.

In 3^rd place with were Herbie with 30 and Silver Fox with 33 for a total of 63 points.

In 2^nd place with were Ming with 34 and Davo with 34 for a total of 38 points, they get £2 each.

However, the winners today were Rabbi with 28 points and The Laird with 43 points, for a grand total of 71 points. They get £5 each. Good choice of partner Rabbi!!

They will get a one-shot reduction.

The Levy raised £14.

Davo had circulated an e-mail proposing to organise an overnighter at Craigielaw the first weekend in November. Can everyone let Davo know by Friday if you would like to attend.

Observations from the course by Herbie, originally complimented Ming on his sartorial elegance in wearing the correct golf shorts. Unfortunately, Ming did not extend such elegance to his socks! Totally inappropriate for the golf course in Herbie’s opinion. Everyone examined the said socks and agreed with Herbie.

Deputy Duffer of The Day was Brains with 28 points, he gets an uplift of 15% to 38.

Deputy Deputy Duffer of The Day was The Cardinal with 30 points, he gets a 10% uplift to 22.

In 3^rd place with 35 points was The Laird, he gets £1 and a handicap reduction of 10% to 15.

In 2^nd place with 37 points was The Geezer, he gets £3 and a handicap reduction of 15% to 17.

However, the winners today were Two Beers and Herbie with 38 points, they share £6 and get a reduction of 20% to 23 and 13 respectively.

Davo had circulated an e-mail proposing to organise an overnighter at Dalmahoy on October 5/6^th. Can everyone let Davo know by responding to the e-mail asap.

Geezer and Rabbi will not be able to attend.

Observations from the course by Herbie, questioned the golfing etiquette of allowing a match play through a non-competition group. He suggested that the Calcutta Match this morning should have bee let through by The Geezers group.

Discussion followed and the upshot was the assembly believed that The Club Captain has priority on the course at all times, so Herbie was appeased.

Captain Geezer wanted the priority to be extended to the bar!

Fourteen golfers this morning, Cardinal and Herbie went out first to compete in the Seniors Calcutta, they also formed a pair for the 4BBB competition selected by the returning Competition Secretary. Hopefully the warm weather training would pay off!

Results

Unfortunately, Marcus was unwell on the course and returned to the clubhouse from the 8^th.

We all wish him a speedy recovery. It meant that the Rabbi had to compete as a single player for the remaining 11 holes.

One team two today by Captain Geezer at the 8^th, he pocketed the £2.80.

Duffers of The Day was Captain Geezer and the Laird with 39 points, they get handicap uplift of one shot.

Deputy Duffers of The Day were Bumpers and Rabbi with 40 points, they get nothing.

Neither do third place teams of Two Beers and The Emperor, Brains and Ming with 41 points.

Runners Up were Cardinal and Herbie, together with Matador and Silver Fox with 42 points. They get £1 each.

The winning team was Kwok and Davo with 43 points. They get £5 each and a shot reduction.

The Levy raised £13.

Captain Geezer reminded everyone of the sponsored walk around the course with children. He thought that some MOHGS could dragoon some random children to accompany them!

Herbie announced the results of the end of year awards.

The King of the Cash (twos winner) was Herbie himself with 8 twos over the year.

The Champion Golfer of the Year was Brains who amassed a mammoth 84 points on Herbie’s unique scoring system.

The Trophy was presented to Brains. Two in two weeks, will he have room in his trophy cabinet!

Thirteen golfers this morning for the first MOHGS meeting of the new season.

Appropriately the Bob Hallett Memorial Trophy was up for grabs!

New handicaps were in operation.

Results

The more than able Stand In Competition Secretary announced the results with a flourish, reminding all present of the new handicap change regime!

Two twos today, Johnnie at the 8^th, and Johnnie again at the 14^th,

he pocketed £2.60.

Duffer of The Day was Captain Geezer with 18 points, he gets a 20% handicap uplift.

Deputy Duffers of The Day were Davo and Silver Fox, they get a 15% handicap uplift.

Deputy Deputy Duffers were Matador, Cardinal, Ming, Two Beers and Scuttler with 31 points, they get a 10% handicap uplift.

In 3^rd place and receiving nothing were Emperor and Sparky, they get a handicap reduction of 10%.

Runner Up with 39 points was Rabbi, he gets £4 and a 15% handicap reduction.

However, the winner and recipient of the Bob Hallatt Memorial Trophy was Brains with 40 points. He pocketed £9 and a 20% handicap reduction.

The trophy was duly presented by The Chairman.

The Levy raised £13, after much consternation as many MOHGS seem to have forgotten the AGM motion raising the levy to £1 per player.
