Deputy Duffers of the Day was Scuttler with 28 points. His handicap will increase to 14.

Deputy Deputy Duffers and Third place holders were Herbie and The Cardinal with 30 points. Their handicap is unaltered!

Runners up were The Rabbi and Matador with 33 points. They get to share £2, and handicaps reduced to 13 and 22 respectively.

However, today’s winner was Davo with 35 points. He gets £5 and a handicap reduction to 10.

A blustery day with squally showers ensued.

Runners Up were Ming, The Scuttler and The Emperor with 73 points. They get nothing.

However, the winners today were The Cardinal, Brains and Herbie, after a steward’s enquiry by the Competition Secretary. Apparently one of the team had played off the wrong handicap!!! (Herbie), he adjusted the score to 76 points. They get to share £9, and handicaps reduced by 1 shot.

Shagpile announced that on 6th June there is a Rotary Club Charity Golf Day at Newbiggin. The cost is £25 for golf and bacon roll/drink. The Laird had requested three tee times, so far six MOHGS had indicated a willingness to play, namely The Laird, Rabbi, Emperor, Davo, Ming and Brains. Any other MOHG wishing to play must let The Laird know by Wednesday!

MOHGS have two 4-balls at either Westerhope of Bridlepath for £15 per player. It was agreed to take up the offer on 13 June. One space is available and first name to The Laird will secure the final spot!

On 11^th June the course is closed for a County Competition, Rabbi and Emperor have booked two tee times (courtesy) at The Bridal Path 11am and 11.08. Any MOHG wishing to join let Rabbi know asap.

Similarly, 4^th June is Seniors Invitation day at Morpeth. For those with no friends, Two Beers is willing to book Newbiggin on that day. Please let Two Beers know if you wish to be included, by Wednesday 21 May!

Next Monday is another Bank Holiday, a show of hands indicated that only two tee times would be required. The Assistant Competition Secretary will arrange.

In 3rd place was the Laird, Emperor, Herbie and Johnnie with 33 points. Handicaps become 12, 15, 12, 14 respectively. They also share £2, magnanimously donated to the tin!

In 2^nd place were Winker and Scuttler with 34 points, they get to share £4. Handicaps reduced to 10 and 12 respectively.

However, the winners today were Kwok and Brains with 36 points. They get to share £8. Handicaps reduced to 16 and 35.

Laird raised two points:

He feels that the new handicapping system is not functioning as expected, however we should continue for the agreed 3-month trial.

He also feels that the levy should be revisited. Suggesting that those MOHGS attending the previously subsidised events should pay the cost. The Emperor (aka Financial Guru) suggested that he provide an analysis of the income and expenditure, and we could then have an informed discussion on his next appearance at MOHGS, which would be 26^th May.

It was observed that MOHGS are not a money-making fraternity.

Herbie asked for clarification on the use of the Geezer Cards. Fortunately, Captain Geezer was on hand, and since they were his idea, he informed of their use.

First and foremost, they are intended as a bit of fun in the spirit of the MOHGS. However, he did confirm that there was no limit on the number of cards a player can be given on any hole. The only proviso is that a player could not get 2 cards for one shot e.g. out of bounds and in the trees. He did state that a player could quite easily get in the trees, in a bunker, three puts and double bogey on the same hole.

Captain Geezer asked for help from a couple of MOHGS on Monday 2^nd June, for his Pro challenge at the 17^th where David Clark will play 200 balls and try to get as many holes in one as possible. Geezer needs a couple to help mark the balls on the green and to return said balls to tee.

Johnnie apologised for the next two Mondays.

MOHGS who play on Fridays should make themselves aware that the course is heavily booked on Fridays from 23 May and for the whole of June. It may be feasible to book away days.

Deputy Duffers of The Day were Brains and Scuttler with 29 points. Brains will increase to 44 and Scuttler to 14.

Deputy Deputy Duffers of The Day were Johnnie and Ming with 30 points. Johnnie will go from 14 to 15, Ming from 20 to 22.

In 3rd place was the Laird with 33 points. He gets £2 and a handicap reduction to 13.

In 2^nd place with were Matador and The Rabbi with 35 points, they get to share £3. Handicaps reduced to 26 and 11 respectively.

However, the winner today was the ever-popular Cardinal with a magnificent 38 points. He gets £5 and a handicap reduction to 18!

Duffers of The Day was Emperor and Two Beers scoring 25 points each for a grand total of 50 points, They will both receive a shot uplift.

Deputy Duffers of The Day were Brains with 25 points and Scuttler with 29 points, for a grand total of 54 points.

Deputy Deputy Duffers of The Day were Winker with 32 and Kwock with 24 for a grand total of 56 points.

In 4^th place were the Cardinal with 30 and Geezer with 28 for a total of 58 points.

In 3^rd place with were Herbie with 30 and Silver Fox with 33 for a total of 63 points.

In 2^nd place with were Ming with 34 and Davo with 34 for a total of 38 points, they get £2 each.

However, the winners today were Rabbi with 28 points and The Laird with 43 points, for a grand total of 71 points. They get £5 each. Good choice of partner Rabbi!!

Davo had circulated an e-mail proposing to organise an overnighter at Craigielaw the first weekend in November. Can everyone let Davo know by Friday if you would like to attend.

Observations from the course by Herbie, originally complimented Ming on his sartorial elegance in wearing the correct golf shorts. Unfortunately, Ming did not extend such elegance to his socks! Totally inappropriate for the golf course in Herbie’s opinion. Everyone examined the said socks and agreed with Herbie.

Observations from the course by Herbie, questioned the golfing etiquette of allowing a match play through a non-competition group. He suggested that the Calcutta Match this morning should have bee let through by The Geezers group.

Discussion followed and the upshot was the assembly believed that The Club Captain has priority on the course at all times, so Herbie was appeased.

Captain Geezer wanted the priority to be extended to the bar!
