On a warm, dry and sunny morning the field totalled 14 golfers who encountered many greens which had been sanded heavily as the final stage in the August refurbishment. The format was blind pairs, putting out.

Two-Beers took the Chair, with Johnnie again pressed into scribe. Brains acted as Competitions Secretary.

Results

One two recorded, by the Emperor on the 17th.

An AI algorithm was used to randomly combine 2 players scores, with the resulting DODs being Brains and Crocs, who both receive an uplift of one shot.

Winners, and receiving a reduction of one shot were Johnnie and Davo. £5 each too.

Toast/Observation from the course

No proper toasts, but the Matador noted that, unusually, at no point had Johnnie held any Geezer cards.

Thanks were expressed to Davo for organising a successful and enjoyable awayday to Arcot Hall GC last Friday.

Two-Beers reprised the messages about the trip to Eyemouth and Magdalen Fields  on the 20th/21st September, and those signed up for the trip will soon receive a further email with final details and the amount due to him.

DOD was The Emperor with 24 points; he gets a two-shot uplift.

DDOD was Sparky with 26 points, he gets a one-shot uplift.

In third place and walking off with £2 was Ginger with 37 points.

Runner up was The Cardinal with 38 points; he gets £4 and a one-shot reduction.

Today’s winner was Brains with a magnificent 42 points. He gets £7 and a two-shot reduction.

The Competition Secretary welcomed Bill into the fold, henceforth to be known as Bagpipes! His choice!!

DOD were Silver Fox, Kwok, Sparky and Bagpipes with 74 points; they all get a one-shot uplift.

DDOD were Geezer, Herbie, Two Beers and The Cardinal with 76 points.

Runners up were Rabbi, Ginger, Emperor and Ming with 77 points.

However, today’s winners were The Laird, Brains, Matador and Davo with 84 points. They get to share £16 and each gets a one-shot reduction.

Herbie regaled the meeting with a description of The Geezer playing the 9^th hole. He put his drive in the ditch on the right, played out, put his next shot 15 yards short of the green and holed the put for a 4!!

Herbie thanked Chris for organising last Friday’s away day at the Bridal Path, together with The Geezer for the complimentary 4 ball.

Next away day is Arcot on 21^st August.

Herbie is looking at an away day on 18^th September.

Three twos today, Crocs 4^th and Minty and Emperor at the 14^th. They get £1.00 and 20p into the tin!

DOD was Cardinal with a miserly 19 points; he gets a two-shot uplift.

DDOD were Ginger and The Laird with 20 points. They get a one-shot uplift.

In third position were The Geezer and Davo with 35 points, they get to share £4.

In second position was Brains with 37 points, he gets £5 all to himself and a one-shot reduction.

However, today’s winner and Champion Golfer of the Year is Minty with 43 points. He gets the trophy presented by last years winner (Two Beers), £5 and a one-shot reduction.

Herbie castigated a MOHG Trophy holder for not treating the trophy with respect. The Championship Trophy had been left abandoned in the locker room. In his defence the previous incumbent claimed that the locker room was locked!

The Competition Secretary announced that Two Beers had a 5 pointer on the 12^th hole, only to be outdone by Brains with a 6 pointer on the 10^th. Well scored you men.

Two twos today, Matador at the 14^th and Davo at the 17^th. They share £3.00.

DOD were Matador, Sparky and Brains with 69 points; they get a one-shot uplift.

DDOD were Davo, Herbie and Johnnie, and Crocs, Emperor and Ginger with 76 points.

Next were Silver Fox, Geezer and Rabbi with 77 points.

However, today’s runaway winners with 85 points were Two Beers, The Laird and The Cardinal. They get £5 each and a one-shot reduction.

Next Monday is the MOHGS Championship so obviously a singles competition.

Herbie entertained the meeting with a description of Johnnie attempting to play out of the ditch to the right of the ninth hole.

Unfortunately, he only got the ball out on the second attempt.

There being no further business, the Chair closed the meeting at 12.45 pm.

Thirteen golfers today all fired up following the Open.  With the odd number the Hon Comp Sec did not take long to advise the gathering that todays comp was singles. Much to the delight of Herbie and Davo who elected to play a casual round as well.

Herbie volunteered to act as scribe.

No idea what swears or geezer cards raised but the Laird has them in safe keeping.

This week all members played off the correct handicaps. Phew.

Only one two today by the accurate Silver Fox.

DOD  Two Beers and Winker with 22 pts. and will receive a two shot uplift.

DDOD  Ming 23pts and will receive a one shot uplift.

Third Place Laird and Silver Fox 34pts.

Second place Brains 36pts and one shot reduction.

Winner today was the Geezer with 37pts and gets a two shot reduction.

At this stage the Ladies on the next table decamped elsewhere as the meeting was getting raucous (well Geezer was)
